How to Catch Missing 404 Redirects After Migrating from WooCommerce to Shopify

You are moving your store from WooCommerce to Shopify using a migration tool like Cart2Cart.

Most of your redirects are already in place, and you feel confident that the important pages are covered. Still, there is a chance that a few URLs might have been missed during the migration and could turn into 404s.

Missing 404 Redirects

You simply want a reliable way to spot any missing pages so you can redirect them once the migration is complete.

The most accurate way to detect missed 404s

Many people look for a Shopify app to do this, but the most accurate way to catch missed 404s is Google Search Console. No tool crawls your site the way Google does, and nothing matches the accuracy of its reports.

Start by adding your new Shopify domain to Google Search Console. Google will begin crawling every link it knows about for your site.

If a page returns a 404, Google lists it clearly. You can find these reports on the left side under the Pages section. Inside that report you will see a group that shows any URLs returning Not Found.

Not found pages in GSC

Once you have the list, you can easily add the missing redirects inside Shopify. This gives you full coverage without missing anything and helps you keep your SEO clean throughout the migration.
